If you have been waiting for a good excuse to head back into Wraeclast, this new patch might be it, especially if you have been stacking PoE 2 Currency and wondering what to do with it. Patch 0.4.0, “Last of the Druids”, does not feel like a small balance pass at all; it reshapes how you plan characters. The big headline is the Druid, sure, but when you start digging into the new systems underneath, you realise your old build notes and PoB plans are probably going in the bin.

Druid Builds Feel Completely Different
The Druid is not just “press button, turn into a bear, delete screen”. That part is there, and it is fun, but the real hook is in the passive tree. There are over 250 new passive nodes tied to shapeshifting, and you feel that density as soon as you start pathing around. Instead of just hoovering up generic damage, you are choosing how often you shift, how long you stay in form, and what each form is actually good at. Add in 20 new active skills and more than 35 support gems, including the Lineage Supports, and you end up with a class that is begging you to specialise. You can lean into a tanky werebear that shrugs off hits, or a glass-cannon style caster that dips in and out of forms. Either way, you are building around identity, not just numbers.

Abyss Finally Feels Worth Chasing
Abyss used to be one of those mechanics you hoped to bump into, then forgot about when you did not. Now it is baked into the campaign. Cracks open up as you level, breaking up that “run through yet another zone” feeling. They have tidied it up too: Preserved Vertebrae is gone, so your inventory is not clogged with junk, and the Well of Souls quest has been reworked so it flows better with the story. The big change, though, is the new Endgame Abyss Tablets. Instead of praying to RNG for a decent Abyss chain, you can actually schedule it. You decide when and where to trigger these encounters, which makes the endgame loop feel way less random and a lot more like you are in control of your own grind.

Fate Of The Vaal Adds Real Decisions
The “Fate of the Vaal” league does not play like a simple “clear room, grab loot” event. You set up six temple rooms before you even start, and that planning step matters more than you would expect. Corruption Chambers, Flesh Surgeon rooms, awkward Temporal Gateways – every choice shifts the risk curve. Put the nastier rooms early and you might get wrecked before you see any payoff; stack them later and you are gambling on surviving long enough to cash out. It feels like a cleaner, more focused take on the old Incursion system, where smart layouts can genuinely carry a mediocre character, and bad ones will punish even a strong build.

Performance, Atlas Tweaks, And What Comes Next
Outside of the headline features, the whole game just runs smoother. Performance tweaks mean fewer weird stutters during big pulls, and the return of things like Talismans gives you more gearing options while you level and map. Abyss getting proper Atlas Passive Tree support also changes how you think about your endgame plan; if you enjoy the mechanic, you can now spec into it properly rather than just hoping it shows up. There is a lot to figure out over the next few weeks, from optimising Druid shapeshift cycles to planning tablet layouts and Atlas setups, and anyone sitting on a stash of PoE 2 Currency for sale is going to have plenty of new toys to experiment with. https://www.u4gm.com/path-of-exile-2-currency
